Russian Hospitality works for development of the food tourism
The development of communication platform for manufacturers of food and drinks and representatives of travel companies and exchange of the best practices in making and promotion of Russian-made quality tourism products taking into account gastronomic traditions and national peculiarities of regions. These were discussion topics of the round table on Russian Hospitality that took place at Expocentre Fairgrounds within the 25th edition of the Prodexpo International Exhibition for Food, Beverages and Food Raw Materials.
The event was organized by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism, and the Russian State University of Tourism and Service. The event was supported by Expocentre AO.
Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism Oleg Safonov said that according to the World Tourism Organization, in 30% the incentive to visit this or that country was ethnic cuisine. He opened the round table devoted to the practical issues of the food tourism development. He emphasized that Russia with its various gastronomic traditions had very good prospects for development of tourism including food tourism.
Oleg Safonov reminded that in 2017 we started the Gastronomic Map of Russia project. Ten Russian regions have already taken part in the project. The head of the RussiaTourism invited restauranteurs, hoteliers, and food industry representatives to participate in the project. He hopes that the project will cover all regions of Russia.
The round table moderator, Rector of the Russian State University of Tourism and Service Alexander Fedulin told about the development of tourism based on food processing companies. In his opinion, tours to confectionery companies are particularly popular now. Apart from traditional tours, masterclasses, tastings, and special events at manufacturing companies become more popular.
Director of the Department of Exhibition, Trade Fair and Congress Activities of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Igor Korotin said that tourism was among priority activities. "The Russian Hospitality strategy found support in the CCI system of Russia", he said. "We're ready to provide assistance in the implementation of this important initiative concerning both organizational matters and information coverage."
The round table featured the award ceremony of Taste Experience 2017 organized by the Russian State University of Tourism and Service and supported by Expocentre AO.
After the round table Oleg Safonov attended regional expositions presented at Prodexpo 2018. "I am impressed with the quality, product range and price parameters of the products showcased at the trade show", he shared his impressions. "This confirms once again that we have great prospects for development of the food tourism."
