12 October 2009 saw the official opening of the international exhibition for machinery, equipment and ingredients for the food processing industry ‘Agroprodmash’2009’.
Agroprodmash, which opened its doors at Expocentre Fairgrounds for the 14th time, has gained a high reputation among the manufacturers of equipment and machinery for agribusiness. The fact is confirmed by the honourable labels of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF).
At the opening ceremony Deputy General Director of Expocentre Fairgrounds Mikhail P. Tolkachyov welcomed nearly 500 exhibitors from 33 countries, 300 of which were Russian companies. Mr. Tolkachyov pointed out to the fact that this year the exhibition was run under the slogan ‘Recovery Solutions for the Food Industry’, thus focusing attention on the solutions that ensured high performance of equipment, adoption of innovations and the competitive edge for agribusiness companies.
Mr. Tolkachyov thanked the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Government of Moscow for the active assistance in organizing the exhibition.
Welcoming the exhibitors and visitors of Agroprodmash’2009 First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on agriculture, food policy and fishery Sergei F. Lisovsky noted that the agriculture was showing sustainable growth while many other sectors were hit by downturn. The scale and success of Agroprodmash’2009 demonstrates that the governmental programme for the development of the farming is being implemented and will result in Russia’s turning from the farming proper into the farming and processing country.
The exhibition plays very important role in enabling the Russian food industry to process products of the agricultural industry and supply them not only to the domestic but also to the foreign markets. Mr. Lisovsky expressed hope that Agroprodmash’2009 would enhance development of the Russian agribusiness.
On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation the audience was addressed by Deputy Director of the Department of the Food and Processing Industry and the Quality of Products of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture S. N. Seryogin, who read out the welcome address from Minister of Agriculture Elena B. Skrynnik.
S. N. Seryogin underlined that the Russian agribusiness had a great export potential, which could be tapped by adopting modern equipment exhibited at Agroprodmash’2009. The exhibition showcases the latest achievements of agribusiness, thus encouraging Russian companies to reach the highest international standards and raise competitiveness of their products.
One of the exhibition sections is featuring packing equipment and materials. This section is extremely important as it helps to improve the quality of delivery, storage and sales of agricultural products, - noted General Director of the Non-Profit Partnership ‘the National Confederation of Packers’ and Chairman of Subcommittee for Development of the Packaging Industry of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee for Industrial Development A. G. Boyko. Issues relating to the packaging industry are incorporated into the programme of business-related events.
Member of the General Council of the Russian Political Party ‘United Russia’ (‘Yedinaya Rossiya’) and Chancellor of Moscow State University of Technologies and Management V. N. Ivanova draw special attention to the staffing problem in the industry. Growth of production in the food and processing industries enhances the demand for and requirements to the qualifications of industry specialists. Russian agribusiness-related higher educational institutions state that they are ready to prepare required specialists. This issue will be discussed at the dedicated conference.
The Agroprodmash’2009 International Exhibition and the accompanying substantial programme of business events will make it possible to find solutions to the most topical issues of the Russian agribusiness.
Agroprodmash’2009 is accommodated in Pavilions Nos. 2, 3, 8 and the Forum of Expocentre Fairgrounds. The exhibition will be open by 16 October 2009. The opening times are 10.00–18.00, on 16 October – 10.00-16.00.
