WELCOME ADDRESS To the participants in the International Intellectual Property Forum. Vladislav L. Malkevich, Director General Expocentre

Dear friends,

The International Intellectual Property Forum Expopriority’2009 is a premiere of this season. It is an innovative project of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Expocentre that sets the exhibition community a completely new task of making exhibitions an effective tool for innovation.

The high status of the Forum is confirmed by the attendance of the official delegations from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the Licensing Executives Society (LES), regional specialist organizations, and Russian and foreign patent attorneys.

The Forum enjoys the support from the Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizes (VOIR) and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The key objective of the Forum is to acquaint a wide specialist audience with innovations and priority projects of the industry, and to introduce a package of measures to protect intellectual property at exhibitions.

Expocentre will be the first in Russia to offer the exhibitors of the Forum a new service: inventors, innovators, research and development institutions and educational institutions demonstrating innovative products will be able to get a Certificate of Exhibiting. This document will ensure legal protection of exhibited innovations and create a more convenient and safe environment for showcasing unpatented innovations.

The Forum will incorporate an Intellectual Property Congress and an International Exhibition of the Latest Scientific and Technical Achievements, both offering a platform for participants to present their companies. The Forum will also feature free training seminars, a round table ‘Intellectual Property Protection in the Area of Customs Regulations’.

I wish the participants in Expopriority’2009 every success and fruitful work, and hope that the Forum will be a success with good prospects for the future.
