Today Expocentre Fairgrounds hosted a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.   

The Presidium members discussed the implementation of the roadmap for the strategic development of exhibition, trade fair and congress activities, approved by the Russian Government. The report was delivered by Vladislav Barmichev, Director of the Department for Foreign Trade Regulation and Development of the Trade Office System of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. 

Maxim Fateev, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Natalia Povetkina, Head of Financial, Tax and Budgetary Law Department of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Russian Government, made presentations on the development of the federal law ‘On Exhibition, Trade Fair and Congress Activities’. 

Alexey Vyalkin, RUEF Vice President, Chairman of the Committee on Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO, took part in the discussion of this agenda item. He suggested, in particular, that the document prepared by the Institute, which talks about the feasibility of the proposed legislation, should spell out in more detail the key risks and key benefits of adopting such a legislative act. 

Sergey Voronkov, President of RUEF and General Director of ExpoForum International OOO, presiding at the meeting, in his turn, drew the attention of his colleagues to the need to create an information centre of competence for the event industry. 

The Presidium members also approved the work plan of the Union for 2023 and voted for holding the General Meeting of RUEF members in June this year in the capital of Tatarstan, in the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre.   

The meeting was followed by the opening of the RUEF office at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
