The enlarged meeting of the Board of the Food Ingredients Producers Union (FIPU) took place on the first day of the Agroprodmash 2019 international exhibition.

The meeting of the FIPU expert members became traditional at the major agroindustrial trade show. This time they discussed how the biotechnology market was changing and what processes were taking place in the industry of food ingredients.

Executive Director of the Bioindustry and Bioresources Technological Platform (BioTech2030) Alina Osmakova told about the main areas of biotechnology development and promising projects such as alternative proteins, GM-salmon, artificial meat and milk, smart farms applying agrobiophotonics, robotic chefs, 3D food printing, product customisation, and others.

The research of the food ingredients market was presented by FIPU Executive Director Polina Semenova. She noted a trend in the decrease of Russian exports of food ingredients. However the volume of imports has not changed and its value has grown up to 2 billion US dollars over the year. According to FIPU, 55% of internal needs in food ingredients are satisfied through own production.

General Manager of ECO RESOURCE Sergey Demenok described the trends in the food colours sector and emphasized some increase in synthetic colours.

According to President of the Roskrahmalpatoka Association Oleg Radin, complex food additives are the fastest growing market segment including through imports.
