subscribe to news Khimia 2020: export of chemical products has an extensive range of supports

Within the Khimia 2020 international exhibition, running at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, a Consulting Session of Russian Export Center on Support for Export of Chemical Products took place. The event was organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Russian Export Center and EXPOCENTRE AO.

The moderator of the industry business meeting, Director of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee on Exhibition, Fair and Convention Activities Sergey Selivanov noted that such consultation sessions devoted to instruments of state support of chemical products have been held within Khimia for five years already and still cause great interest.

The share of high-tech domestic products in industry exports does not exceed 10%. These are mainly low and medium processing products - fertilisers and synthetic rubbers, the moderator continued. On the contrary, the import product range is very diverse and contains a significant share of fine chemicals. "Thus, we sell raw materials and purchase finished products made from our own raw materials abroad," Sergey Selivanov concluded.

Deputy Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO Vladimir Gubernatorov addressed the participants of the Session and the Khimia 2020 exhibition with a welcoming speech. He stressed that even in the conditions of pandemic Khimia is alive and effective, and also noted the importance and practical benefits of consulting sessions at EXPOCENTRE’s exhibitions.

Irina Arkadyeva, Chief Specialist of the Chemical Industry Department of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, reported that during the current year the export volumes of chemical products were lower than in 2018-2019. The peak drop was observed in April due to the pandemic. But now the supply volume is recovering, and there is a hope that by the end of 2020 it will reach the level of 2019.

Maksim Chapov, Head of the Project on the Export Support of Consumer Goods at the Russian Export Center, told in detail about financial and non-financial measures to support domestic exporters of the chemical industry. He reminded that the REC Group has extensive non-financial and financial tools to support Russian exporters. In addition to the REC, it includes the Russian Export Credit and Investment Insurance Agency and Eximbank of Russia.

The list of non-financial services contains analytical support, including assessment of export potential and risks that companies may face when entering foreign markets.  The REC experts also form pools of potential foreign clients, carry out business reputation checks, organise targeted events abroad and in Russia, business missions, deal with customs administration and logistics support of foreign trade transactions and other types of critical procedures for exporting companies.

At the same time, the REC Group provides domestic exporters with effective financial support, such as insurance and credit support. Eximbank of Russia, in particular, provides a wide range of loans, including to foreign buyers of Russian goods.

During the session, experts provided detailed answers to chemical companies' representatives to numerous specific questions related to business development and export opportunities.
