Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Pavel Sorokin held a meeting on formation of the Expert Council for Technological Development of the Oil and Gas Industry at the Russian Ministry of Energy.

The Council is designed to play a significant role in offering recommendations and proposals on the development of the Russian oil and gas industry. "We hope the Council will be an important body for interaction with the expert community. However, it is important for the Council not just to criticize but also generate fresh ideas. Such proposals can become systemic in the end and play an important role in the technological development of the industry and reduce its import dependence", said Pavel Sorokin.

During the meeting the attendees approved the membership of the Council and its working groups focused on "exploration, production and services", "transport and logistics", "oil and gas processing and petrochemical industry", "equipment and digital technology", "sales and exchange trade".  

The main function of the Expert Council is to assist the Russian Ministry of Energy in implementation of the tasks on development of public policy and regulations as well as to provide advisory and expert support to carry out strategic programs in technological and digital development of the oil and gas industry. The meeting of the Expert Council will be held not later than once every three months.

The meeting participants also discussed the supporting program of the Neftegaz international exhibition and the National Oil and Gas Forum scheduled for April 2019. At the meeting there was put forward a proposal to hold one of the meetings of the Export Council at Expocentre during the above mentioned events.
