The 3rd National Congress on the Export of Medical Services has become a key event of the conference programme of Russian Health Care Week at Expocentre Fairgrounds. The event is organised by the Russian Ministry of Health Care, the Coordinating Centre on Implementing the Federal Project on the Development of Export of Medical Services, the Association of Medical Tourism and Export of Medical Services in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO. 

A plenary session was held today and, according to its moderator, Sergey Gaiduk, Assistant Minister of Health Care of the Russian Federation, was aimed at discussing the results of the federal project "Development of the Export of Medical Services" in 2021 in view of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the results achieved in cooperation with the federal public authorities within the framework of the project implementation. 

Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rostourism, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency and Roszdravnadzor spoke at the plenary session. 

Alexander Bessarabov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, informed, in particular, about new changes in the entry procedure for foreign nationals to our country to receive medical services during the period of restrictions related to the threat of spread of the coronavirus infection. Since September this year, he noted, foreign nationals have been able to obtain multiple-entry business visas to travel to Russia for medical treatment for a period of up to one year. 

Igor Ivanov, Director General of the National Institute of Quality of Roszdravnadzor, devoted his speech to the national systems of quality and safety of medical activity as an important competitive advantage. According to his conviction, the federal project "Development of the Export of Medical Services" works for the whole Russian health care system, which should be attractive for all patients, including foreign ones, so that they choose our country for treatment. 

Demyan Smilevets, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Federal Tourism Agency, said that medical tourism is a serious market, and improving the quality of services is crucial for its development. Russia is not yet among the top ten countries in this field. However, according to the UN World Tourism Organisation, the potential of our country's attractiveness for medical health tourism is very high. 

Sergey Klimov, Head of the Economic Cooperation Department of Rossotrudnichestvo, shared his views on interaction with the Russian Ministry of Health Care within the framework of the federal project "Development of the Export of Medical Services" and on the development of such interaction. 

The number of FMBA medical organisations that are getting involved in the export of medical services is growing, said Sergey Mikheev, Head of the Department for Rehabilitation and Sanatorium Treatment at the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency. 

Ksenia Kryukova, Deputy Head of the Coordinating Centre for the federal project "Development of the Export of Medical Services", presented the following data for the first nine months of 2021: 2.2 million foreign citizens received medical services in medical organisations of the Russian Federation, the volume of proceeds amounted to more than 120 million US dollars.
