Elektro 2023 started with Manufacturer Day. This is the 31^st edition of the Exhibition for Electrical Equipment, Lighting Engineering and Building Automation held by EXPOCENTRE under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

This year, just like last year, the show’s conference programme focuses on import substitution and localisation of production in the electrical industry.

The Switch to Ours! trend zone is dedicated to this very topic, showcasing examples of Russian-made equipment that are counterparts to sanctioned electrical appliances and import-substituting solutions.

The discussion of risks and opportunities for domestic production in the current environment was held by representatives of SME Corporation, which implements support measures for small and medium-sized companies.

The event was moderated by Maxim Ostapenkov, Deputy Head of the International Activities Directorate at SME Corporation. He told the participants and visitors to Elektro about the main activities of the federal SME support institution, about the programmes implemented by the SME Corporation and general conditions for joining them.

"In general, SME Corporation's work is aimed at matching supply and demand and developing Russian suppliers,” stressed Mr. Ostapenkov. 

Iya Bobrovskaya, Deputy Head of the Compliance Assessment and Monitoring Directorate and Head of the Compliance Monitoring Department at SME Corporation, highlighted specific practices in working with customers. She noted, “The creation of the domestic sales market for small and medium-sized companies is one of the indicators of the National SME Project. Despite the pandemic restrictions and sanctions, it has been possible to maintain a positive trend in the availability of procurements of the largest SME customers.”

Manufacturer Day continued with the conference on promising projects and directions for the development of electrical machinery and insulating materials in the context of today's challenges.

Industry representatives who took took part in the discussion with their reports and presentations included Svyatoslav Masyutin, President at the Interelectromash Association and Deputy General Director at Ruselprom Concern, Andrey Papkov, Deputy General Director at Elinar Holding Company, Georgy Krushevsky, Technical Director at Elektroizolit, and others. Various aspects of the ongoing import substitution in the industry as well as issues of innovative activities of Russian participants of the market of electrical machines and insulating materials were touched upon.

The conference programme of the first day of Elektro 2023 offered participants a variety of other formats for networking among industry experts, including networking on the topic of out-of-the-box certification solutions: new opportunities for the electrical business, and concluded with the award ceremony for the winners of the ElektroReklama 2023 competition.
