On the first day of Prodexpo 2024, a plenary session on New Sales Realities. Growth Points of Export Opportunities was held. It was organised by the Russian Quality System (Roskachestvo) and EXPOCENTRE AO.

The meeting began with a solemn awarding ceremony for manufacturers of products awarded the Russian Quality Mark, which is given to the best Russian-made products based on the results of fan surveys by Roskachestvo. The ceremony was conducted by Viktor Evtukhov, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, and Maxim Protasov, Head of Roskachestvo.

As Viktor Evtukhov noted, about 250 Russian companies have already received the Quality Mark, and today 10 more have joined them. The presence of the Quality Mark on a product is an additional incentive for consumers to buy it, and for manufacturers it serves as an additional competitive advantage both in the Russian and foreign markets. The quality mark is widely known far beyond the borders of our country and exporting companies also actively use it, said the Deputy Minister.

The plenary session, moderated by Dmitry Vostrikov, Executive Director at Rusprodsoyuz, focused on key issues related to the development of food exports in 2024. According to him, exports are recognised as a promising area, and our country is already overproducing many categories of food products.

Yulia Mikhaleva, Deputy Head of Roskachestvo, spoke on Competitiveness and Quality of Export Goods: the Ingredients of Success. In 2023, she said, given the ongoing crisis components, exporters were still faced with the task of finding new business partners, ways to enter alternative foreign markets, establishing new logistics chains, expanding cooperation with friendly countries, selecting and adapting the range of goods, and creating systems for efficient payment and settlement systems.

Yulia Mikhaleva noted that the competitiveness and quality of Russian goods, despite all the existing difficulties, are preserved. As shown by the fan tests conducted by Roskachestvo in 2023, the number of quality goods has increased and more than 100 goods were awarded the Russian Quality Mark. Among the promising categories of domestic exports, the expert, in particular, included halal and organic products. In her opinion, organic crops have good export prospects.  Roskachestvo considers China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar to be the highest priority export destinations for Russian food products.

The plenary session was also attended by experts from the Federal Service for Accreditation (RusAccreditation), the Russian Export Centre, Agroexport and representatives of major exporting companies. They discussed the peculiarities of exports to specific countries and services to support exports. Special attention was paid to the growth points of export opportunities for producers from large to small and micro businesses. Examples were given of the export potential of certain product categories in the new realities of sales, the mechanics of promoting goods to foreign markets.

The professional audience of the plenary session received a lot of useful information, as they call it, at first hand.
