The official opening ceremony of Russian Healthcare Week 2025 was held jointly with the opening of another key event, the 17th Russian Assembly of Professionals in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries.

Mikhail Murashko, Russian Minister of Health, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He spoke in detail about the changes that are taking place in the healthcare system today.

"The technological structure, the system of interaction with a patient, new ideologies of healthcare development – all of these are key features of the modern time. Our specialists take part in international conferences and symposiums and send reports on the most significant changes they see in their field in the industry, on the innovations that we need to implement. The current paradigm of healthcare is to change the approach from the ideology of simply treating diseases to a serious personal approach to preventing certain diseases, accompanying a patient throughout their life. Thus, creating conditions for a person to realise themselves to the full in the social space, less looking back at the severity and time of illness,” said the minister.

Ekaterina Priezzheva, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, read out a greeting from Anton Alikhanov, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, and spoke about the Ministry's role in the development of the pharmaceutical and medical industries.

The two co-chairs of the Week's organising committee also delivered welcoming remarks: Sergey Leonov, Chair at the Healthcare Committee of the Russian State Duma, and Yaroslav Nilov, Head at the Committee on Labour, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs also delivered welcoming speeches.

Yury Kalinin, President at the Union of Associations and Enterprises of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries – Rosmedprom, Chair at the Commission on the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and Chair at the Russian Public Council of the Medical Industry, noted that the Week has already become a traditional meeting for the professional community at the end of the year. It gives every opportunity to coordinate positions, openly discuss the accumulated issues, and agree on further joint steps.

“Over decades, Russian Healthcare Week has gone from a trade show to a major national forum. The interests of doctors, manufacturers, regulators, research and educational centres are represented here: all those on whom the quality of medical care in this country depends,” said Yury Kalinin."

Maxim Fateev, Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO, stressed that all links of the industry chain are presented at the Week’s events, from research and personnel training to the production of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and practical healthcare.

“Companies from different regions and countries, leading medical clinics, health resorts, research centres, and universities are located nearby at the trade shows. Russian Healthcare Week is always a busy discussion platform. This year, the focus is on rehabilitation, restorative medicine, longevity, and personnel training. We will talk about the quality of life of patients, and about the future of the healthcare system, about who and how will work in medicine tomorrow,” said Maxim Fateev.

After the opening ceremony, the 17th Russian Assembly of Professionals in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries also opened its doors. The event is organised by the Rosmedprom Association, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Business Russia Public Organisation, the OPORA RUSSIA Non-Government Association, and EXPOCENTRE.

The assembly’s participants were representatives of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Health, the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor), the Eurasian Economic Commission, regional authorities, professional public associations, and leading Russian manufacturers of the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

The assembly summed up the activities of professional public associations and organisations of the pharmaceutical and medical industries to increase competitiveness and reduce dependence on imports for the production of medicines and medical products for Russian healthcare in the current environment, including initiatives to increase the sustainability of the production of pharmaceuticals and medical products under sanctions, and the development of technological sovereignty in the industry.
