The Panel on the Russia-Turkiye Cooperation in the Coatings Industry, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Russian Chemists Union, the Centrlack Association and the Russian-Turkish Business Council, took place at the Interlakokraska 2023 exhibition 

The event was moderated by Vyacheslav Savinov, Executive Director of the Russian Chemists Union. The panel was devoted to a new stage in the development of Russian-Turkish relations in the chemical industry and specifically in the paint industry. 

According to Alexey Egarmin, Director General of the Russian-Turkish Business Council, relations between Russia and Turkiye have recently taken on new significance. "Turkey has become an absolutely friendly country to us with an open economy and huge development potential," he said. Russia and Turkey have strong ties in industrial and trade cooperation. 

It was stated that the consumption of paints and varnishes in Russia in 2022 was about 2 million tonnes with a share of imports of 18%.   Paint and varnish purchases from China increased by 82% and from Turkey by 3.7 times. "From 2020 to 2022, trade turnover between Russia and Turkey reached 115 billion USD, with 98% coming from Russian imports and only 3% from exports," said Diana Kudryashova, Research Director at NIITEKHIM OAO. 

In his turn, Alexey Zavadsky, Deputy General Director of Souzexpertiza ANO of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also noted: "Over the past year, we have seen a threefold increase in requests for Turkiye. Traditionally, since 2017, we have been focused on working with the PRC, and now the Republic of Turkiye has a significant share of our orders".

Hamid Jabbari, CEO of ALKIM Chemical Industry and Foreign Trading Ltd. spoke at the event. "It is very profitable to work with the Russian market," he said. “We are trying to work more and more actively with Russian companies. There are certain difficulties, but they will gradually be resolved". At the same time, ALKIM has no problems with payments and bank transfers for Russia. 

The panel was also attended by Gennady Averyanov, Director at the Centrlack Association; Batuhan Ozdemir, Assistant Manager for Paints, Fertilisers, Construction Plastics, Rubber, Mineral Oils, Essential Chemicals at IKMIB – the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Association, Turkiye; Dogukan Kose, Manager of International Projects at the Artkim Association, Turkey; Yesin Gökmen - Business Manager, Densurf, Denge Kimya (Turkiye); Yury Mavashev, Director at the New Turkiye Study Center; Pavel Dolgov, Director at the Association of Exporters and Importers; Kenan Yavuz, President at Erkur Makina Conveyor (Turkiye); Ozer Bal, President at Vera Sheet Metal and Surface Treatment (Turkiye).

The experts noted, in particular, that further development of cooperation between Russian and Turkish companies is greatly facilitated by fast deliveries thanks to the geographical proximity of the countries.
