The Championship of Furniture and Woodworking Industry Professionals – WoodworkingSkills 2023 has started at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds within the Mebel 2023 International Exhibition for Furniture, Fittings and Upholstery. The championship is organised by the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia (AMDPR) in cooperation with EXPOCENTRE AO.

This is the fourth edition of the championship, whose programme includes such areas of professional competences as furniture making, joinery, industrial furniture design, and woodworking machine tool operation.

The opening ceremony of the championship was conducted by General Director at the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia Timur Irtuganov.

Welcoming the event participants, First Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO Sergey Selivanov has stressed that Mebel hosts the championship at its venue every year. This season, the exhibition surpassed the results of the pre-pandemic 2019 in terms of its scale.

He also talked about the wide geography of the championship participants and professional representation in it not only of small and medium but also large businesses and students from various colleges and universities from all over our country. “Everyone participates in the training of qualified personnel from educational institutions to manufacturers of furniture, equipment suppliers, and service providers,” emphasised Sergey Selivanov. “This process, as we can see, can be vivid, entertaining and interesting.”

The championship participants were also welcomed by Vitaly Krivosheev, General Director at LIGA, which is a partner of WoodworkingSkills 2023, Mr. Tosun, Sales and Marketing Director at Kastamonu, which is the general sponsor of the championship and Mebel, and Andrey Frolov, Brand Manager at Intervesp.

The WoodworkingSkills 2023 competitions will last two days and end on 22 November with an awards ceremony.
