A working group of the Federal Customs Service has held a visiting session at the Mir Detstva 2019 exhibition to discuss important foreign economic aspects of the children's goods industry.

The meeting was organised by the Federal Customs Service, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Russian Association of Children's Goods Industry with the support of Expocentre AO. The meeting moderator, Association President Antonina Tsitsulina, said that the working group traditionally addressed keynote issues and made practical decisions.

Head of the Federal Customs Service's Directorate for Trade Restrictions, Currency and Export Control Sergey Shklyayev, in his turn, dedicated his speech to the protection of IP rights of Russian manufacturers of children's goods. According to the Federal Customs Service, only 4% of IP rights registered in the Customs Register relate to children’s goods. "Our manufacturers do not protect themselves," Sergey Shklyayev said. "This problem is especially pressing in the context of the task of increasing exports of children's goods," he said. Shklyayev informed the audience of the new administrative system of the Federal Customs Service, which allowed to apply for inclusion in the Customs Register online.

Measures against exhibited counterfeit products were discussed in the light of increased imports of counterfeit children's goods in Russia. Antonina Tsitsulina said that Expocentre was doing a lot to solve the problem, for instance, via its special project Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions.

Speaking of the implementation of the Interstate Cooperation and Export national project, the President of the Russian Association of Children's Goods Industry mentioned financing of exhibitions of Russian-made children's goods inside and outside the country amongst the measures of state support for Russian exporters.

The meeting was focused on improving legal protection of IP rights of children's good manufacturers, benefits of the status of authorized economic agent, control over safety of children's products supplied to the Russian market, technical regulations, and other important subjects.

Meanwhile, a working group of the Federal Accreditation Service held a visiting session at the Congress of the Children's Goods Industry to discuss the activity of accredited appraisers of children's goods compliance. Participants also conferred on risk management in the process of children's goods certification, control over manufacturing and distribution of goods issued with compliance certificates, and new regulatory mechanisms of the children's goods market.
