The Session on Muslim-Friendly Service According to Halal Standards was held within the 15th edition of the International Economic Forum called the Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2024.

Muslim-Friendly is a system of loyalty to organisations that create favourable conditions for Muslims. The session was devoted to topics related to the implementation of these standards at all levels of service provision such as accommodation facilities, catering, cultural, sightseeing programmes and other areas of business and leisure. The speakers presented best practices, international experience and practical tips that would help participants to successfully adapt their services to the requirements of the Muslim-Friendly system.

Sergey Selivanov, Deputy General Director at EXPOCENTRE AO, spoke at the session about the company’s exhibition activities and noted that one of the most notable trends in recent years had been the replacement of departed participants in congresses and exhibitions who represented Western countries. Having analysed the composition of foreign exhibitors for 2023, the specialists of EXPOCENTRE determined that more than 14% of the total number of foreign exhibitors at the company’s own trade shows now included exhibitors from countries that were members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The growth in the number of exhibitors from OIC countries was about 40% compared to 2022.

“We closely follow trends and new formats of service provision, which include the Muslim-Friendly system,” said Sergey Selivanov. “The growing number of our event participants representing the Islamic world and the potential to cover promising markets have made us see that we have to develop the halal direction at our own trade shows.”
