The 29th edition of the Exhibition and Fair of Folk Arts and Crafts, Firebird 2002. Autumn, has opened at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds. The fair is organised by the Centre for Arts and Crafts and the Russian Handicraft and Art Association with the support of the Union of Folk Arts and Crafts. Its co-organiser is EXPOCENTRE AO.
Firebird is a traditional meeting place for craftsmen and artisans from the Russian regions working in the field of folk art, and their regular buyers, both Muscovites and guests of the city, as well as representatives of the commerce, hotel and tourist businesses. The fair is held twice a year in spring and autumn.
The visitors will see a great variety of folk crafts and trades from 44 regions of Russia: traditional, modern and original handicrafts of craftsmen, artisans, artists and designers, and visit a gastronomic centre. The fair welcomes 250 artists, craftsmen and artisans from Russia and Uzbekistan.
The cultural programme includes performances by folk groups, and fashion and accessory shows.
The autumn Firebird runs till October 9.
