Mebel 2022 will present the entire technological cycle of furniture production from components, equipment and technology to finished furniture in all price segments and ready-made design solutions. This year, more than 650 companies are taking part in the show, of which around 500 are Russian.
IKEA's withdrawal from the Russian market came as a shock not only to Russian consumers, but also to Russian manufacturers who had created furniture, fronts and interior items for the furniture giant. However, there are some advantages in this situation, because now you can buy your favourite Scandinavian-style goods directly from Russian manufacturers, and not only from Russian ones.
Swedish Standard, a new brand of the Belarusian manufacturing group VMG, which has been an IKEA supplier for many years, is exhibiting at Mebel 2022. Angstrem, widely known in the furniture market, has produced kitchen fronts and beds for the Swedish concern. Angstrem is showing their entire collection of new products this year. Another major exhibitor and IKEA supplier, Slotex, designs and manufactures decorative plastic, furniture components and interior decoration materials.
The show will focus a great deal of attention on Russian design, its identity and promotion in a competitive environment. On 21 November, the Russian Designers Association will hold a discussion on rethinking the Russian design code and introduce talented young furniture designers. During the show, more than 30 experts will speak at interior design workshops. They will include such renowned designers Zhenya Zhdanova, Diana Balashova, Elena Teplitskaya, Sergey Tregubov and others.
The plans of Russian furniture manufacturers are both to develop production facilities and to enter new markets. Dialogue between business and the state is important here. On the first day of the show, the Russian Conference of Furniture Manufacturers will be held with heads of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade to discuss state support measures for furniture manufacturers.
Government support can also be seen in subsidies for participation in trade shows. After all, product promotion is no less important than advanced technological production. With the financial support of regional business development centres, companies from nine Russian regions are taking part in this year’s Mebel, and another eleven regions and republics have organised group stands for their manufacturers.
