The Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a nationwide event dedicated to International Anti-Corruption Day.
The event was held in a hybrid format and brought together more than 20 thousand participants from all regions of the country: representatives of business, authorities, regulatory agencies, the expert community, and students.
Its key moment was the presentation of the results of the 13th stage of the chamber’s project called Business Barometer of Corruption, which enjoyed participation of more than 38,000 representatives of the business community from all regions of the country.
Opening the event, Elena Dybova, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressed that the fight against corruption requires an integrated, interdepartmental approach. She stressed that the system of chambers of commerce and industry has been offering specific solutions for many years to create a fair competitive environment. Entrepreneurs consistently advocate clear rules of the game and are ready to work with the government to build a system in which all market participants work on equal terms.
Surveys conducted by the Business Barometer of Corruption showed a noticeable increase in civic engagement: more than 38% of respondents are ready to contact the prosecutor's office directly if corruption is detected. Viktor Baldin, who is heading the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation for Supervision of the Implementation of Anti-Corruption Legislation, spoke about the preventive work of the department, highlighting the anti-corruption expertise of regulations, which helps to close legal loopholes and limit the arbitrariness of officials.
Svetlana Orlova, the auditor of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, said that the agency pays special attention to monitoring the effectiveness of budget spending. Last year, 150 billion rubles were returned to the budget, and this year, according to her, this amount is expected to almost double.
The traditional element of the event was the Russian Anti-Corruption Dictation, which attracted a record number of participants this year. Konstantin Brykin, Deputy General Director at EXPOCENTRE, took part in the event. The interactive form allowed entrepreneurs, civil servants, and students to test their knowledge of anti-corruption legislation and obtain up-to-date information on conflict-of-interest prevention mechanisms.
