Conference programme

The conference programme of Interlakokraska 2024 included 15 events with the participation of more than 110 speakers. The events covered the most relevant issues of the paint and coating market development.

The programme’s key event was the Plenary Session on the Paint and Coating Market: Realities and Prospects, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Soyuzkraska Association and with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Russian Chemists Union.

The event was opened by Mikhail Yurin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia. In his welcoming speech he noted that the Russian paint and coatings industry is showing excellent results.

Mikhail Yurin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia:

“At the end of 2023, we see an 11 per cent increase in production volumes and a 10 per cent increase in consumption, which entails positive changes in the product range. Our companies are creating new products required for a wide range of industries. The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade actively supports them in this. It is also becoming obvious that the efforts of unfriendly countries that have imposed sanctions are not achieving their goal.”

The deputy minister also noted that the ministry, together with associations and enterprises of the industry, still has much to do in the direction of staffing and development of new raw material components and compositions.

Viktor Ivanov, President at the Russian Chemists Union, in his turn, emphasised that the potential to produce various types of paint and coating materials for all industries had been preserved. According to the speaker, the scale and number of visitors to Interlakokraska 2024 give hope that all the difficulties experienced by the paint and coating industry will be overcome. Many imported products can be abandoned by switching to domestic analogues.

The panelists discussed a wide range of issues related to raw materials supply for paint and coating production, their export and import, as well as current opportunities for Russian manufacturers of paints and coatings taking into account sectoral needs.

Other reports were made by Olga Sinitsina, a leading expert of the paint and coating market at Creon-Analytics, Anna Trofimova, Deputy Head of the Polymer and Elastomeric Materials Industry Development Division at the Chemical Industry Department of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Valery Abramov, General Director at Russian Paints AO and Chair at the Board of the Soyuzkraska Association, and CEOs of leading companies in the paint and coating industry.

The Discussion on if There is a Need for Personnel in the Paint and Coating Industry? How and Where to Train Industry Professionals? was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Soyuzkraska Association. Experts discussed the current HR situation in the Russian paint and coating industry.

The event was moderated by Gennady Averyanov, Director at the Soyuzkraska Association, who gave a brief overview of the situation on the HR market and pointed out the general shortage of human resources in the country.

The participants reviewed and evaluated a number of vocational training programmes for the paint and coating industry. Olga Semina, Head at the Centre for Management and Development of the Professionalitet Federal Project, made a report, which aroused great interest from the audience. It was devoted to opportunities of the cluster approach for training of personnel.

The discussion was attended by the heads of industry enterprises and representatives of higher education institutions that train students majoring in paint and coating development and production.  They discussed the practice and prospects of attracting specialists to production, current problems of interaction between educational institutions and industrial enterprises, issues of training applicants, efficiency of corporate universities, and other issues.
