TASS Press Centre hosted a press conference on the beginning of acceptance of applications for the 3rd Project Competition of the Russian Scientific School "Young Medicine", which will be held from March 20 to November 1, 2023.

Today, acceptance of applications for the competition of research projects under the educational programme of the "Young Medicine" Russian Scientific School has started.

The competition was initiated by the Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technology Development. In 2023, the competition was declared the winner of a grant from the Presidential Grants Fund.

Students and postgraduate students of Russian medical and pharmaceutical educational institutions of higher education not older than 35 years; participants and managers of healthcare startups; residents, young doctors and young scientists conducting their scientific research in the field of medicine and pharmaceutics not older than 35 years can participate in the Competition. To read the rules for participation in the Competition and to apply, please visit the official website.

The winners of the competition will receive a cash prize and present their projects in December 2023 at Russian Health Care Week at Expocentre Fairgrounds. The best works will be included in the Collection of Projects and posted in the Russian Science Citation Index.

“EXPOCENTRE AO supports the Young Medicine project, which was held for the first time in 2021 exactly at our venue, as part of Russian Health Care Week," said Alexey Vyalkin, director General of EXPOCENTRE AO, Chairman of the CCI RF Committee for Exhibition, Trade Fair and Congress Activities, speaking at a press conference.

According to him, virtually all of EXPOCENTRE's exhibitions are in one way or another related to demonstrating and promoting the latest scientific and technological developments, innovative technologies and cutting-edge ideas. The exhibition activities aimed at promoting Russian science and its achievements in various fields are fully in line with the objectives of the Decade of Science and Technology announced in Russia in 2022-2031.

"Our International Scientific and Practical Forum Russian Health Care Week, which is one of the oldest congress and exhibition projects in Europe in the field of medicine, has always been and will always be a launching pad for new projects and talented young people," stressed Alexey Vyalkin. “The Week covers practically the entire industry: from development to production of medical devices, from scientific research to practical application in medicine".

He reminded that in 2022 Russian Health Care Week was held within the framework of two initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technologies in Russia: Projecting the Future and Platforms for Interaction of Science, Business, State and Society.

Russian Health Care Week 2022 was attended by more than 20,000 industry visitors; 799 companies from 15 countries presented their innovations.

"One of the main objectives of EXPOCENTRE AO is to be an effective business platform that includes all the segments that are attractive for business today - investment, scientific, financial, and innovative," believes Alexey Vyalkin. “This is what we proceed from when we prepare and plan our exhibition and congress projects. For example, in 2022, the business and scientific programme of Russian Health Care Week brought together 90 landmark industry congress events held in offline and hybrid formats with the participation of 940 leading Russian and foreign speakers.

Medical students are regular visitors to Russian Health Care Week, stressed the Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO. He expressed his gratitude to the management of specialised universities that provide young people with this opportunity.

"In 2023, together with our world-renowned major corporations - Rostec, Rosatom, Almaz-Antey, AMICO, Electron, Skolkovo and other industry leaders that traditionally take part in Russian Health Care Week exhibitions, we plan to organise meetings of young scientists with the heads of flagship structures right on the site of Expocentre Fairgrounds during the winners' visit to Moscow, hold 'live' discussions, establish direct contact between young science and investors", said Alexey Vyalkin.

He thanked the Filatov International Foundation for Development of Biomedical Technologies thanks to whose efforts the forum and the YOUNG MEDICINE school unite students of regional medical universities and their mentors - outstanding Russian medical scientists - into a serious scientific community.

In conclusion, Alexey Vyalkin wished the participants of the competition of the Russian Scientific School "YOUNG MEDICINE 2023" success. He invited the winners of the competition to present their projects as part of the start-up zone at Russian Health Care Week.

The press conference was attended by Inna Svyatenko, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy; Tatiana Semenova, Russian Deputy Minister of Health; Oksana Drapkina, Chief Freelance Therapist of the Russian Ministry of Health and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Ekaterina Dibrova, President of the Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technology; Armais Kamalov, Director of the Lomonosov MSU Medical Scientific Educational Centre (online); Innokenty Dementyev, Deputy General Director of the Presidential Grants Foundation
