The Russian Conference on Smart Food Production: Innovative Technology, Packaging and Ingredients for Healthy Life has opened at Agroprodmash 2021, the 26th edition of the International Exhibition for Equipment, Technologies, Raw Materials and Ingredients for the Food Processing Industry. The conference is organised by KVK Imperia and EXPOCENTRE AO. 

According to analysts, the global market for organic products alone is worth 13.7 billion rubles, and in a decade its potential could reach at least 4.4 trillion rubles. The Russian market for health foods is growing at 8% a year for 10 years, and by 2024 will exceed 1 billion rubles. 

Experts believe that at least 20% of Russians will switch to healthy eating in 10 years' time. What products will consumers be looking for in food stores in the near future? What changes will this healthy trend bring about? How will this change affect existing food manufacturers and the emergence of new ones? These questions are addressed in an analytical session that opens the conference. 

Other sessions cover the whole range of issues related to healthy eating. These include a technology session and sessions on Smart Packaging, Ingredients of the Future, and Retail Session: Eco-commerce. 

More and more consumers want to know how the food they eat affect their health. This trend goes hand in hand with the other one: people try to eat less meat and other products of animal origin. These products are substituted by plant-based food, organic and functional food, and food made with natural ingredients and bio-cultures. 

The conference participants noted that the Russian organic segment alone could take up to 10% of the domestic food and agricultural markets in the coming years, and up to 25% in the long term. Responding to this growing eco awareness, a number of producers already use only certified or eco ingredients, confirming the responsible manufacturing.
