A conference on such a topic has been held within the accompanying programme of Neftegaz 2021. The event is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with support of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, the Association “Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council”. 

The conference covered a wide range of issues. The participants discussed current trends in training of highly qualified specialists for the fuel and energy complex, the relationship between the oil and gas industry and global economic and political processes, the energy transition, digitalisation in the fuel and energy complex, and the gender balance in the science and education and production spheres. The experts presented the best global practices of interaction between scientific and educational institutions and oil and gas companies.

Speaking at the conference via video link, World Petroleum Council President Thor Fjaeran stressed that human-created innovation and climate change were fundamental to energy transformation.

Vlada Streletskaya, Director of the RNC MNS, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas Assistant Rector for International Affairs, said that the Russian National Committee, like the World Petroleum Council, considered the support and involvement of talented young people in the oil and gas industry its most important task.

When discussing international cooperation in training industry professionals, the conference focused on academic mobility, joint research activities and the dual-diploma programme.
