The 7th Moscow International Chemical Forum organised by the Business Russia Non-Profit Organisation and the Mendeleev Accelerator Company incorporated a round-table discussion whose participants analysed prospects for attracting more investments into high-tech chemistry.

The discussion, which was moderated by Vice President of the Russian Chemists Union Maria Ivanova, featured representatives of leading venture companies, development institutions, investment funds and major chemical industry enterprises.

Opening the discussion Georgy Shestakov, Vice President of the VEB Ventures Company, said that the chemical industry was one of the most promising sectors for investment. 

Investment Managing Director of the Rosnano Company Vladimir Konovalov noted that Russia was a global leader in producing energy commodities and yet it was lagging behind in the field of their processing, and this was something that opened new vistas for investment. He shared Rosnano's experience in funding the fine chemical industry and special chemistry and explained that a special fund had been established for the purpose. At present Rosnano is implementing three projects in the sphere of chemistry.

Talking about the chemical sectors with expansive potential for investment Yevgeny Kuznetsov, Board Chairman of the Fund for the Support of the National Technology Initiative Projects raised an important issue of brining such projects to the local and global markets. He pointed out that there are a lot of interesting high-tech projects out there but they have not turned into business projects yet.

Among the companies representing the real economy that shared their plans of investment into the chemical industry were the Titan Group of Companies and Sibur Holding.

The participants in the round-table discussion spoke about difficulties that a production company faces when trying to raise funding for the expansion of its production capacities. They also reviewed the tools that are really effective in securing funding and discussed many other important questions.
