The opening ceremony of the 20th anniversary edition of the Metalloobrabotka exhibition took place at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

"Today, the Russian machine tool industry faces great challenges which cannot be solved without such event as Metalloobrabotka," said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Vasily Osmakov at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. He expressed gratitude to the organisers of the show Expocentre AO and the Stankoinstrument Russian Association of Machine-tool Manufacturers. According to the Deputy Minister, Metalloobrabotka is the place where one can check how the government policy on machine building is being implemented, see the latest products, and network with foreign partners on production localisation in Russia and on development of Russian export.

President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin said that taking into account the importance of the machine tool industry for this country's economy, Metalloobrabotka was one of the leading trade shows closely observed by the representatives of all sectors. The trade show enables the attendees to examine the best practices and achievements, show their opportunities, and discuss the future of the global machine building with leading machine tool builders.

Director General of Expocentre AO Sergey Bednov welcomed the participants in the anniversary edition and said that Metalloobrabotka was one of the world's major trade shows. The trade show carries the approved logos of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, and RUEF, the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs. The exhibition is included in the official schedule of key global machine building shows of CECIMO, European Association of the Machine Tool Industries and related Manufacturing Technologies.

The anniversary edition has brought together 1,186 companies from 33 countries, including 590 Russian manufacturers of machine tool products on the exhibition space of 42,000 net sq m. Group stands were organised by the Moscow, Kaluga, Lipetsk, and Tver regions. Metalloobrabotka 2019 also features new sections: "Welding and related technologies" and "Robotics and automation of production". The section "Additive manufacturing, industrial 3D printing" has become well developed, said the head of Expocentre.

He thanked the Russian Federation Council, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Engineering Union and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for their support.

President of the Stankoinstrument Russian Association of Machine-tool Manufacturers Georgy Samodurov reminded that the first edition of the Metalloobrabotka exhibition was held 35 years ago. Over the years the industry has passed the trials, retained its capacity, and now it continues growing. According to the head of Stankoinstrument, the trade show, that features more than 30 major industry events, allows evaluating the current state of the industry and tracks its development. He thanked Russian and international colleagues and partners and congratulated Expocentre on its 60th anniversary.

Head of Department for Investment and Industrial Policies of the City of Moscow Anna Kuzmenko also welcomed the participants and organisers of Metalloobrabotka 2019. The participants in the opening ceremony of the anniversary edition were heads and representatives of industry associations from Belarus, China, Czechia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK, and the USA
