Metalloobrabotka 2022, the 22nd International Exhibition for Equipment, Instruments and Tools for the Metalworking Industry, opened today at Expocentre Fairgrounds.

This year, over 600 companies from 17 countries are showcasing the latest equipment, technology, services in machine tool building and developments in the field of import substitution in the machine building industry at 25,000 sq. m of exhibition space. Around 500 of them are Russian.

The official opening ceremony was attended by Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Konstantin Dolgov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly Committee on Science and Higher Education, Vyacheslav Shport, member of the board of the Russian Military Industrial Commission, Roman Petrutsa, Director of the Industrial Development Fund, Vladimir Serebrenny, Rector of the Stankin Moscow State Technical University, Gleb Turichin, Rector of the St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University (SPbSMTU), Georgy Samodurov, President of the Russian Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers, and Alexey Vyalkin, Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO.

“Many foreign companies want to stay in the Russian market despite the sanctions”, said Sergey Katyrin. “Machine tool building is the most important backbone industry for Russia, without which no other industry can operate. That is why it receives special attention from the business community and from authorities at all levels. Machine tool enterprises are the backbone of a number of cities".

Mikhail Ivanov read out a welcome address from Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, in which Metalloobrabotka 2022 was named as one of the key events in the industry, where advanced developments and technologies of Russian and foreign manufacturers of machine tool products are demonstrated every year.

Konstantin Dolgov spoke about the support for the development of machine engineering, the machine tool and metalworking industries by the Federation Council. According to him, the support consists not only in meetings, round tables and recommendations, but also in adopting specific regulatory changes that expand opportunities for the development of the industry.

Vladimir Kononov emphasized that the exhibition promotes consolidation of legislative and executive authorities, expert and business communities around large and important goals. It helps to focus all efforts on implementing the most promising projects and initiatives capable of ensuring the industrial leadership of our country.

Closing the official opening ceremony of Metalloobrabotka 2022, Alexey Vyalkin thanked all those present and assured that the staff of EXPOCENTRE AO would do their best to make the work of the exhibitors and visitors comfortable.

The Metalloobrabotka 2022 exhibition runs until May 27.
