On the final day of the Russian Textile Week 2019 Expocentre Fairgrounds hosted the 16^th Golden Spindle 2018 National Award Ceremony in the textile industry. The award was established in 2003 and became the most prestigious annual industry award.

The founders and organisers of the award ceremony were representatives of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry, and the Russian Fashion Academy.

Today, the symbol of the national award, a styled spindle made of gold-flashed silver, and special awards in different nominations have been given to the Russian textile companies, fashion houses, design bureaus, Russian fashion designers, trade organisations, people of art, and journalists whose work encourages the development of the fashion industry and the domestic textile industry.
