The Spetsmash 2023 specialised exhibition of agricultural and road-building machinery was held on 30-31 May in Darkhan, Mongolia. The event was organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The trade show of Russian manufacturers was presented with the support of the Rosspetsmash Association. EXPOCENTRE AO was the operator of the event.

Seventeen Russian enterprises took part in the exhibition, including Rostselmash, the Petersburg Tractor Plant (Kirovets), Pegas-Agro, Melinvest, Mercator Holding, UMG SDM, Techno-Steel, Kurgandormash, the Almaz Trading House, Om-Selmash, LiS, Kuzembetyevo RMZ, and others. New domestic developments and popular models of agricultural machinery were shown on the area of 1,500 sq m.

As part of the exhibition, a round table on Russia and Mongolia: Developing Cooperation in Agriculture and Road Construction was held with representatives of the Russian government and machine building companies, Mongolian central government authorities and regional administrations, industry associations and lending institutions.

On the Russian side, the round table was addressed by Maxim Vasiliev, Trade Representative of Russia in Mongolia; Maria Yolkina, Director of the Department of Agricultural, Food and Road Construction Engineering of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade; and Alla Elizarova, Director of the Rosspetsmash Association. The Mongolian side was represented at the round table by Mr. Ts. Bolorchuluun, Director of the Policy and Planning Department of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Textile Industry of Mongolia and Mr. B. Javkhlan, Deputy Governor of Darkhan-Uul aimag (province).

Maxim Vasiliev welcomed the Russian exhibitors, Mongolian partners and all participants in the event. He stressed that Mongolia is actively developing and becoming a food exporter.

Mr. Bolorchuluun said that Mongolia is currently implementing a food security concept to provide the domestic market with food. In this regard, the government is supporting local farmers in acquiring machinery and equipment. In addition, Mr. Bolorchuluun said that a state agricultural support corporation is being formed, the key advantage of which will be the possibility to enter into direct contracts for the supply of machinery through a dealership network in the country.

Alla Elizarova stressed the importance of promoting Russian machinery abroad, in particular in Mongolia, and noted that the Association is interested in expanding international cooperation and is ready to work on the needs of foreign partners.

The round table was followed by a working meeting of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade with Mongolian bank representatives on loan programmes relevant to the procurement of agricultural and road-building machinery. The meeting discussed the possibility of implementing state programmes to support business loans on special terms.

The Russian delegation also visited Shimt Agro Holding, a farm typical for Mongolian agriculture. One of the main results of the visit was formation of specific requests from Mongolian farmers for subsequent elaboration of technological solutions and adaptation of the product offer of domestic producers.

The growing demand for equipment and machinery from Russia on the part of Mongolian buyers confirms already established high reputation of domestic engineering products. With each passing year, Mongolian agricultural companies are increasingly opting for Russian agricultural and road construction equipment.
