Russian Health Care Week 2022, a major international scientific and practical event in the field of medicine and health protection, opened today at Expocentre Fairgrounds. 

The distinctive feature of this year's event, which covers all aspects of modern medicine, medical science and health protection, was the inclusion of the Week in the list of events of the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation under two initiatives at once: ‘Designing the Future’ and ‘A Platform for Interaction of Science, Business, State and Society’. 

The Week is organised by the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, the Russian Ministry of Health Care and EXPOCENTRE AO. Russian Health Care Week is supported by the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Week is held under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

The main purpose of the Week and the included international exhibitions Zdravookhraneniye, Healthy Lifestyle, MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics. Health and Spa Resorts, the PharmMedProm exhibition and conference is to promote the implementation of the national projects Health Care, Demography, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, and the federal project Development of Medical Services Export. 

More than 700 companies from 9 countries participate in the exhibitions of the Week. Leading Russian and foreign manufacturers demonstrate the latest medical technologies and innovative developments, as well as the services of the health and spa industry. The stands present medical equipment, medical products, consumables; rehabilitation and prevention equipment; aesthetic medicine, pharmaceuticals and goods for healthy lifestyle; medical and health-improving services, health-improvement and treatment technologies in Russia and abroad. 

The exhibitions are accompanied by an extensive scientific and conference programme with over 60 industry-specific congress events. 

As Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted at the opening ceremony of Russian Health Care Week 2022, throughout the week there is an opportunity not only to see what has been done in pharmaceuticals, medical equipment manufacturing and many other areas that have fallen under sanctions, but also to discuss issues related to the development of medicine, pharmaceuticals and medical science. According to him, there will be points of growth at the Week with the participation of manufacturers, representatives of science, lawmakers and investors. 

The head of the Chamber emphasised that Russian manufacturers are well represented at the exhibitions of the Week: "Of the 700 companies on display, more than 630 are Russian. Almost all regions of the Russian Federation are present here. 45 of them have organised group stands. There is a lot to see, show and discuss". 

Viktor Fisenko, First Deputy Minister of Health Care of the Russian Federation, read the greetings to the participants and organisers of Russian Health Care Week 2022 from Mikhail Murashko, Head of the Ministry of Health Care. According to the Minister, Russian Health Care Week has become the largest review of scientific and practical medicine, bringing together doctors, medical equipment manufacturers, scientists, government representatives and business. Mikhail Murashko expressed confidence that the Week would be held in a meaningful and constructive manner and would contribute to improvement of the Russian health care system and quality of life of the Russian citizens. 

Russian Health Care Week 2022 was opened by Inna Svyatenko, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, Sergey Kabyshev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Vasily Osmakov, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mikhail Piradov, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Oleg Bochkarev, Deputy Chairman of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation, and Nikita Gusakov, Senior Vice President of the Russian Export Centre. 

Alexey Vyalkin, Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO, thanked the guests of honour for their support in organising and holding Russian Health Care Week 2022, as well as all the participants. Addressing the exhibiting companies who have chosen the venue of the Central Exhibition Complex to display their products and technologies, he assured: “EXPOCENTRE’s team will continue to do its best to make your work with us as comfortable and productive as possible".
