The 19^th International Exhibition for Equipment, Instruments and Tools for the Metalworking Industry

Metalloobrabotka 2019 is a major trade show of global machine tool industry and state-of-the-art metalworking technology. Thanks to Expocentre's technical capabilities, all exhibits could be seen in operation, be it large sized machines or even mini factories.

Country pavilions and group stands were arranged by VDW (Germany), SWISSMEM (Switzerland), SST (Czech Republic), UCIMU (Italy), TAMI (China, Taiwan), CMTBA (China), Business France – the Trade and Investment Office of the Embassy of France in Russia (France), Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus (Belarus), for the first time MTA – the Manufacturing Technologies Association (UK) helped to arrange the UK national pavilion.

Other participating machine building associations: KOMMA (South Korea), MIB (Turkey), JMTBA (Japan), AFM (Spain), TMBA (Taiwan), TIAD (Turkey)

Showcase

A separate pavilion was occupied by 80 machine-building companies from China, which showed high quality machinery and tools. Read more>>

A group stand of machine builders from Taiwan featured Hiwin, Honor Seiki, Palmary, Quaser, Seyi, SOCO, Taiwan Taikisawa, Tongtai, and YCM. These companies showed intelligent manufacturing systems, robots, sensors, solutions for remote control and synchronization of machine tools, and Big Data solutions, which makes cooperation between Russia and Taiwan mutually beneficial.   

The first Additive Technologies. 3D Printing Sector showcased raw materials for 3D printing, metal printing equipment and technologies, rapid prototyping, 3D scanning, hardware and software. Its exhibitors included Additive Technologies, Dipaul, Point, Promtehplast, State Marine Technical University of St. Petersburg, 3D Soft, Autodesk, Dorst, Farsoon, IQB Technologies, Nissa Digispace, Polema, Roland DG, SLM Solutions, Standard Equipment, WellCam, Adem Engineering, Chevalier, etc.  

The Stankoinstrument Association organized the Science, Vocational Education and Production section where leading technical universities and colleges introduced training programs for the machine building industry. The participants included Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Ogarev Mordovia State University (Saransk), Moscow Polytech, Blagonravov Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (National Research University), Ufa State Aviation Technical University, etc.  

The Industry Development Fund participated for the first time. It presented a VR simulator developed jointly with VRTech for training and evaluation as part of development of the State Information System of Industry (SISI). Unimatic (Russia) showed a set of training mini-machines (turning + milling) developed in Russia and an interactive training simulator.

The first Employment Centre at Metalloobrabotka gave information about current job offers of exhibiting companies, posted CVs, and offered professional career development consultations. The centre was arranged by the Association of Personnel Selection Consultants and the Stankoinstrument Association.

The Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions project, aimed at minimizing counterfeit products showcased at exhibitions, operated online.

The Stankoinstrument Association and ITO Publishing House prepared special issues of the Metalloobrabotka newsletter (Russian only) devoted to the Russian exposition and the most important challenges facing the industry.

Supporting events

The Consultation Session of the Russian Export Center about Export Support for Metalworking Industry was organized by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Russian Export Center, and Expocentre. Russian machine building has a great export potential. Director for Metallurgy Export Support of Russian Export Center Aleksey Kuranchev talked about financial and non-financial instruments used by the centre to support export related projects of Russian metalworking enterprises. Head of the Exhibitions Department of the International Cooperation Department of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Sergey Selivanov talked about the role of trade shows in promoting Russian-made machinery in both Russian and foreign markets and support measures provided to companies participating in trade shows by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and Russian Expocentre Center.

 The 8^th edition of the International Forum on Modern Trends in Technologies and Design of Metalworking Equipment was organized by the Stankoinstrument Association and Expocentre AO. Nikolay Yudenkov, Director of Communications with Industry and Governmental Agencies at the Stankoinstrument Association, talked about the importance of Metalloobrabotka for the Russian machine building industry. According to him, the show helps to promote Russian-made products not only in Russia but also abroad. Production of machine tools in Russia has doubled since 2010. It led to decreased import and increased export of Russian-made machinery.  

The International Forum on Digital Machinery Production: Problems and Solutions was organized by Moscow State Technological University Stankin and supported by the Stankoinstrument Association. The event generated a lot of interest and served as a unique platform to discuss development of digital technologies for machine building, and development of international cooperation in the industry. Reports were made by First Vice President of the Russian Engineering Union Vladimir Gutenev and Rector of the Moscow State Technological University Stankin Elena Kataeva. President of UCIMU – the Italian Machine Tools, Robots and Manufacturers' Association Massimo Carboniero talked about new forms of cooperation and search for partners in Russia. Director of ICE in Moscow Pier Paolo Celeste noted the growing confidence of Italian companies in the Russian market. Executive Vice President of Hanwha Corporation  Man-Seob Lee talked about the potential of cooperation between Russia and South Korea in the machine building sector. During the forum, Moscow State Technological University Stankin signed a cooperation agreement with the Tekhnomash Scientific Production Association and Fanuc, as well as an agreement about launching a joint technology center with UCIMU. The university also signed an agreement of cooperation and creation of a joint department with the Baltiyskaya Promishlennaya Kompaniya (Baltic Industrial Company). 

The forum featured an award ceremony of the Russian competition among students "The Best Innovative Metalworking Project", which was traditionally supported by Expocentre.  

Participants in the conference on Additive Technologies and Netfabb: the Present and the Future of Innovative Manufacturing showed advanced solutions and process of all steps of additive manufacturing, from creation of 3D models to printing and post processing, talked about software and hardware systems of additive manufacturing currently used in Russia, and informed everybody interested how to get the most out of additive technologies. The program included various presentations and master classes of Autodesk, Fitnik, Nissa Digispase, Point, Delcam-M, etc. The conference was organized by Point.  

The Conference on Introduction of 3D Technologies in Manufacturing brought together leading experts of the event's organizer, IQB Technologies, and SLM Solutions, which is the world's largest manufacturer of 3D equipment for metal additive manufacturing.   

The presentations zone featured reports of the exhibitors of the Additive Technologies sector. More than 25 speakers talked about trends in the market of additive manufacturing in Russia and other countries, its potential and main figures, shared their experience in using additive technologies in various machine building sectors, and reported about problems related to introduction of these technologies and new opportunities. Reports were made by representatives of FINVAL Group, Ostec Group, Dipaul, Polema, TEN FAB, TEN AT, LaserSpark, Adem-Engineering, Master-Service Metrology Group, Electroprivod, State Marine Technical University of St. Petersburg, etc.  

The Discussion and Practical Forum "Industry 4.0", organized by Stan, ran for two days. Leading Russian and foreign companies shared their experience in this field. Director of LO CNITI and Director of International Business Development of Cifra OOO Andrey Lovygin reported on Internet of Machine Tools. The event was devoted to the current development level of electronics, telecommunication means, web technology, and NC equipment. Russian-made products can gain leading positions in the world's market because their technologies are largely unique.  

The Conference on Human Resources for the 21^st Century Industry was organized by the Guild of Educational Mechatronics, Robotics and Technical Creativity and the Stankoinstrument Association. New developments and cases of application of different software for personnel training was presented by Didactic Systems, Askona, Sprut, Adem-Centre, Iskra, and Cheboksary Electromechanical College.    

Moscow State Technological University Stankin with support of the Stankoinstrument Association organized an international school for young scientists and professionals in digital production, and a series of scientific and educational workshops for high-school students and teachers of supplementary education. Young people presented their research and ideas which were evaluated by professors of the Moscow State Technological University Stankin and the University of Zielona Gora Poland). High-schoolers were offered lectures about robotics, history of scientific and technical research and current production, and a tour of the stands of major Russian and foreign developers and manufacturers of digital equipment and automation means.
