The central event of the supporting programme of the anniversary edition of the Mir Detstva 2019 international exhibition was the Congress of the Children’s Goods Industry held by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and supported by Expocentre AO.

The plenary meeting of the Congress was devoted to the national projects as drivers for development of the children's goods industry. Today, the children's goods industry means more than a dozen of sectors and over 1,000 manufacturers mainly representatives of SMEs. This industry affects such national projects as International Cooperation and Export, Education, Health Care, and Culture. The participants in the plenary session discussed how the government programmes worked and their use for businesses engaged in the children's goods industry.

Speaking about the trends in the children's goods market, Director of the Department for Development of the Industry of Socially Important Goods Dmitry Kolobov pointed out to the increase in the teenage segment. According to his records, in the first half of 2019 the market volume of children's products amounted to 388 billion rubles having showed a 2% increase compared to the corresponding period of 2018. According to the results of the previous year, the share of Russian-made products reached almost 28%. "Russian-made children's goods are beginning to win the market," the expert stated. He highlighted the export growth as a second important trend and mentioned government measures assisting Russian companies to enter international markets such as subsidizing of participation in trade shows, organisation of business missions, and others. According to Dmitry Kolobov, national projects are beginning to shape a specific demand on the part of education, health care, and other sectors.  

President of the Russian Association of Children's Goods Industry Antonina Tsistulina elaborated on key areas for development of the children's goods industry as part of implementation of the national projects.  She touched on some aspects of certification of children's goods and told about the support necessary for manufacturers. "We need to prove that Russian-made goods are competitive, knowledge-based, and high tech," said the head of the professional association.

The other speakers in the plenary meeting were Director of the AURA-Tech National Assistive Technology Association Ivan Biryukov, Director of the Mir Mio National Association of Music Industry Developers of Musical Instruments and Equipment Maxim Guzinin, Head of Russian Quality System (Roskachestvo) Maxim Protasov, and other experts.
