The organising committee of the 3rd Young Medicine interdisciplinary forum has met at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds. The forum is organised by the Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies, the Russian Ministry of Health Care and EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly and the scientific support of Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and Lomonosov Moscow State University’s Medical Research and Education Center.

The organising committee was made up of representatives of the Russian Ministry of Health Care, major national medical universities, research centres and health care development institutes.

President of the Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Ekaterina Dibrova summed up the results of the year's work. In particular, she noted that Young Medicine (the annual Interdisciplinary Forum and a competition of the same name held by the Russian Scientific School) is included in the official programme of events for the Russian Decade of Science and Technology. The project is also included in the action plan to implement the National Strategy for Women.

“Last year, the project managed to include more than 200 universities and research organisations in Russia into its orbit, and three times as many high-quality works – 176 – were selected to participate in the competition. As a result, Young Medicine is now truly nationwide, ” said Ekaterina Dibrova.

The forum programme includes a biomedical module, a section called Methodology for Successful Project Approval, a biomedical quiz, a foresight session on how to build your project, and other activities.

Chair at the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Inna Svyatenko, who heads the expert council of the Young Medicine Russian Scientific School, said, “The implementation of our project stimulates work with talented young people in the regions. Senators together with experts discuss best practices and find new solutions to support young scientists.”

Alexey Vyalkin, Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO, spoke about preparations for Russian Health Care Week 2023, the scientific programme of which includes the Young Medicine Forum. He says that today the interest in exhibitions of the Russian Health Care Week is very high. As of May, half a year before the event, the displays of the Zdravookhraneniye and Healthy Lifestyle exhibitions are practically formed.

“Medical students are regular visitors to our Russian Health Care Week. We are extremely grateful to the rectors of medical universities, who provide young people with this opportunity year after year. I am convinced that the 3rd edition of Young Medicine, which has already become one of the main events of the scientific programme of the Week, will give a start in life to talented young scientists, and in time you and I will be proud of their achievements for the benefit of our country,” said Alexey Vyalkin.

Members of the organising committee supported Alexey Vyalkin's initiative to create a separate platform within Russian Health Care Week, designed to establish a practical dialogue between the winners of the Young Medicine competition and the medical professional community.
